I love walking on the beach so much that I feel like I could walk along the shore until I hit Maine.
I would prefer to go to Maine rather than Florida, I think. There is a little bakery in Maine that sells the very best rolls I’ve ever had. They are called morning rolls. And after a walk that started in Delaware and ended in Maine I would be very very hungry and could probably afford to eat at least five of them. In a row.
Which, in just one sitting, is the amount I usually want to have, but I refrain because ,well, consuming five rolls is just not a wise choice. However, after a walk like that, the five morning rolls would be more than sensible, I do believe.

“Jenna, are your eyes open or closed?” I just asked.
“Closed. I’m glaring at you,” she told me, matter of fact.
“I thought so,” I replied.
And then I looked back to my computer and she continued to watch her movie.
Just thought you’d like a glimpse into day 6 of our family vacation.
(I am not sure how one glares with their eyes closed, but if anybody can do it, it’s my dearest Jenna!)

And another glimpse:
The first night we went running round these parts, I was doing a little stretching beforehand and I just so happened to be right in front of my brother, Josh. I was bending over, stretching my hammies, and he asked, Is it even possible to wear tinier shorts, Jess? And so I decided to make the most of the moment and did a bit of a hip warm-up. Right in front of him. I was rocking my hips from side to side cause these hips don’t lie, just like Shakira. And then he was a little more horrified because not only were my shorts pretty short, but now I was doing the around-the-world with them right in front of him.
And we all started laughing.
And it became a bit of a tradition. So every night before we went out for our run, I’d make sure to plant myself right in front of Josh and shake what my momma gave me.
I wouldn’t wanna not warmup for the run, you know.
We also had gotten in the habit of commenting upon every little thing we did, saying, that “Jason would’veĀ really loved this,” not unlike he had gone to meet his maker, rather than just going to meet his new agent out in LA.
And before Josh had to go back to work, he wondered aloud if we were going to talk about him like we talked about Jase.
So.
One night we were getting ready for our run. I had on the shorts that Josh likes to comment upon every single time I wear them. And I was all, “Jenna, record me doing the booty shake and then let’s send it to Josh!”
And so I did maybe the best booty shake of my life. It was so good, in fact, that Darby requested that Jenna email it to her as well, just so she can have it for her viewing pleasure.
And what did we title the video we sent Josh?
Josh would’ve LOVED this.
And for kicks, Jenna also emailed it to our brother, Jase, out in LA. With no context whatsoever, I may add. And he replied with, “Ummmmm, excuse me????” And hahahahaha yes, I know, how is he not used to getting random videos bytes of his sister shaking it? I mean, come on.
Moral of the story: warm your booty up before you run; injuries are no joke, kids. Also? Make sure you record it and send it to at least two of your brothers.
Ha! I love it. Also, this is the week my family and I go camping. Only we go to a lovely camp ground on lake Michigan complete with dunes and tons of family and people we’ve known so long they feel like family. I’m glad that your having as much fun as I am! (although I haven’t had an opportunity to shake my booty yet, but I’ll be on the lookout!)
that sounds quite magical, meghann! I was performing somewhere near Lake Michigan last summer and we went on what felt like a 500 mile walk to get to it and go for a swim and when I got there I couldn’t believe that people called that great expanse of water a lake! I mean, this was a lake unlike all others. Except perhaps the other great lakes, I suppose:) Also, I met a pretty friendly homeless man who had a nice and patriotic american flag stuck in his hair and even complimented my bathing suit, but called it an outfit, which struck me as odd.
have a lovely vacay!
I really had no idea why my one sister was sending me a video of my other sister shaking her butt.
And I still don’t, really.
well, you could always read this post…!
Yes, lake michigan always strikes me as impressive too. I actually prefer it to the ocean because its not salty
Michigan homeless people are absurdly friendly. There is one that rides his bike around my neighborhood to collect pop cans and I sometimes encounter him when I go running and he always smiles and tells me,” congratulations!”. Ummm thanks?! Lol!
haha that’s awesome! I could use that kind of encouragement when I run, actually:)
This really made me LOL. I mean, not just a little chuckle…like a full belly laugh after reading this. That moment is priceless! Most of the time when I am reading something, or listening to something and it is funny, I will smille, and maybe chuckle, but nothing really audible comes out! Well, my habit has been broken with that story…congratulations!
Sounds like you kids are all having fun. Awesome!
always glad to assist in a genuine LOL!!!
so funny!!!!!!!!and those rolls sound amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh sarah–they really are. seriously, if you are ever in Portland, you gotta have one.
Gosh, I love you, Latshaw.
right back at you, hornbuckle.
oh my gosh….you guys are a friggin’ RIOT….seriously…the world would be such a boring, bland place without the Latshaw clan in it…nice knowing you guys…
I’m pretty sure you add some salt–some glorious and wonderful and quite tasty salt!–to what could otherwise be deemed as quite bland, as well, dear J-9…
and thank you.
and glad you approve:)
