How do you tend to spend your Saturdays?
a). teaching pilates.
b). making homemade pizza from scratch.
c). pretending that your roots aren’t quite as bad as they are and that you don’t need a shower as much as you do.
d). throwing crab apples at people you love.
e). talking with a beautiful friend about the various and respective johns (men who are literally named John!) who both of you don’t want to date, though the feeling is not mutual, sadly enough.
f). participating in a very volatile conversation with someone who seems to hate you, to the point that you are feeling pretty darn weird inside.
g). getting your eyebrows threaded! for the first time! and actually, they’ve never even been waxed before so, ooooh! it’s pretty exciting.
h). swimming in a large pool with friends and family and pretending to be either a shark or a life guard, depending on the exact moment you’re taking down records.
i) all of the above.
And my answer is: all of the above!
At least for this saturday, anyway.
*and about the eyebrow threading: I think this is something that I will get done now. Because they did such a good job. Seriously, I was a little afraid they would make me look like a drag queen or something with brows just too arched or thin, but really, they just look clean and shaped and nice. And also? When I asked the woman who got it done before me to tell me the truth and let me know if it hurts, she said, LIKE HELL! Just like that. She seriously pronounced the capital letters and I was all, OH SHOOT!, except I just thought the capital letters.
So when I closed my eyes, I was ready for something awful to come over me. Something like hot lava or a thousand pricks from a thousand needles, but really, it was hardly anything at all. I mean, not compared to a broken heart. And actually, the pain was kind of interesting–but maybe that is just because I am a dancer and we are used to pain but I had never before experienced threading pain so a part of me was like, Ah. Different. And interesting.
And then it was done and I got to walk around the mall with bright red skin all around my eyebrows and that was different and interesting, too!
Well, for me, I could leave all the rest out of my Saturday and just do F over and over again. What joy!! What healing!!! What a gift!!!
well jase, I could certainly arrange for you to have your own little f)., if you’d like!
is threading like getting your eyebrows waxed? Why would one thread? Hmmmm..Girls are so interesting! However, If you like it, I LOVE IT! LOL
My Sat consisted of sleep, gym, sleep, try to watch a movie, but fell asleep!
haha well that sounds like quite a lovely saturday, too!
And yes, threading is just like getting your eyebrows waxed–but, from what I hear, threading can be more precise and it takes longer to grow back and has less chance of any kind of infections. Although this is what the threading place says, so maybe the waxing place says the same exact thing!
oh Jess..it all sounds good except “f”..im so sorry that was in the mix of your day. all of the other things are so sweet..ive always wanted to try to get my eyebrows threaded, Kate gets hers done and they always look so nice!!! Hope to see you soon:)
ooh, kate’s eyebrows do always look so nice! and sarah–you should totally try getting your brows threaded (although they already look pretty, so it’s not like you need to!)! I could even go with you, if you want–now that I’m a veteran and all;-)
1) What are crab apples?
2) I get my eyebrows waxed and have done the threading thing, and I don’t think they hurt bad at all. In fact, I find it quite relaxing. It’s like a teeny tiny spa. And yay! No plucking!
Mandy, we have a tree down near our stream and it produces small green very sour apples that people throw at each other more than they eat. However, I know people who have been bribed to eat them from time to time. Maybe calling them crab apples is an east coast thing, but I have always heard them referred to as such.
Hm. Interesting!
I want to get my eyebrows threaded PRONtO!
Elizabeth–you have lovely brows already, but I do highly recommend it! And really, it hurts a little but it’s not bad and I kinda like it:)
I have thought about threading but the person who waxes my eyebrows does such a good job and sometimes she puts something on them afterwards if they get particularly red (they don’t seem to get too red that much…I guess I am used to it).
