brooklyn again.

Posted By on May 6, 2010 in Performance, photography, Thoughts and Feelings | 17 comments

This is gonna be not so lengthy cause I am not so awake right now.

Shane and I played in Brooklyn this evening and it was a very good time.

And tonight marked a milestone for me: I played the guitar while standing up. Which is new for me. And apparently, I have to bevel when I do this–see?

My beautiful friend Betsy documented it by taking a picture.

Oh–that’s what we call what I am doing with my foot there: beveling. For some reason, it made me feel more secure or something. Maybe too many years of dancing, who knows.

(as if there could ever be too many years of dancing!)

And also, this time we decided not to stick the set list to my bum. Although it worked like a charm last time we played in Brooklyn, too much of a good thing can lose its novelty, I guess.

And since someone is probably gonna say something, let me be the first: I am wearing pants. Well, shorts, actually. They were $5 and I was wearing them. My shirt, however, was on the longer side, so it made the shorts look shorter and blah blah blah all you need to really know is that I wore something.

And that I was beveling.

While playing the guitar.

And I am sure there is more you should probably know, but right now, you’re not gonna find out about it on this blog…

maybe you were impersonating a bluegrass band person who just gets so into it and you’re stomping out the beat?

Either way.. hope it went really well tonight :)

that’s a good suggestion–and sounds like fun!–but nope. I was definitely just beveling, strange as that is…

And thanks, tonight was soooo fun. Really, a blast:)

Well.. in that case, bevel til the sun comes up :)

    • jessica May 6, 2010

      I just might sometime…;)

        I am testing something here.

I am not gonna lie. I had to look up the word bevel while I was yes, flossing my teeth, this morning. It doesn’t sound too bad Jess. It actually sounds fun in the right context! Keep on rockin’ in the free world!!!

    • jessica May 6, 2010

Haha I plan on doing just that, Rachel! And way to go on taking the initiative by looking up the word ‘bevel!’ that’s the sure sign a smart person:)

I like how Shane is a blur, your upper body is a blur and… your leg is in sharp focus.

And maybe it is the light, but when I first saw that pic I thought that you were wearing point shoes.

    • jessica May 6, 2010

Point shoes?? Thats the beveling, for you!!! And Maybe I should start wearing them–it’ll be my gimmic, a l lady gaga!

I like that you’re pink and shane is green, but your heads are the opposite. It’s like you are super hero partners with coordinated hair. I’m glad it was fun!

    • jessica May 6, 2010

I’m glad somebody FINALLY got that–it’s what we’ve been going for the whole time. Looks like we finally nailed it! ;-)

I think you go full on ballerina outfit and dancing WHILE playing guitar from now on. Now that’s a gimmick worth having!

    • jessica May 6, 2010

There’s no reason why I can’t do that–I knew all that ballet training would pay off!

  7. Christian May 6, 2010

Jason – that’s the exact gimmic I’ve been using while preaching lately!

    • jessica May 6, 2010

Man–now I’m REALLY mad I missed your teaching this past Sunday…!!!

  8. shean. dag, apparently i suck at typing my name.... May 6, 2010

a good way to avoid accidentally attaching the set lest to the seat of your pants is to not wear any pants.

    • jessica May 6, 2010

Well first of all, hello and welcome to this blog, Shean. Thanks for stopping by. And yes, good point–I was ready to avoid that scenario at all costs this time. So the pants had to go.
